Before anyone begins an embroidered project there are things that need to be thought about.

  • Will the fabric be able to handle the design?
  • What is the best method of stabilizing the fabric?
  • What is the best way of getting the fabric held beneath the sewing machine needle?
  • Which hoop should I use?
  • Is the number of stitches and the design size correct?

Whether you are new to embroidery or experienced, we have products that will make your embroidery easier and more accurate.

Which Hoop should I use for a T-shirt?

Any of our Free Frames will out-perform any other embroidery hoop on stretch materials as the fabric is never stretched! You apply our Stick and Tear stabilizer on to the back of our frames/hoops and then lay your fabric on it. The adhesive holds the fabric in place for you so you don't have to stretch the fabric to get it taught in the hoop as you do with your machine's hoop.

Is there anything else I should use for stretch fabric?

Yes.

  • The correct needle is very important. You should use a stretch needle that will protect the stretch fibers as you stitch through and reduce skipped stitches.
  • You should back the fabric before placing the fabric into any frame/hoop. We have 2 stabilizers that are designed just for this.

Fabric Hold and Fabric Hold-light. They are both designed to be ironed onto the back of the fabric before hooping. This stops the fabrics stretchy quality and makes it behave as if a normal woven fabric.

They will also allow the fabric to come off of the Stick and Tear Stabilizer without any adhesive remaining on the back.

I want to embroider on a see-through fabric and don't want any stabilizer to show on the back, what should I do?

  • Apply the Stick and Tear stabilizer to the back of our Free Frame and then cut out an opening that is large enough for your embroidery.
  • Patch the opening with Stick and Rinse stabilizer and then lay your fabric on top. After positioning the fabric so that you know it is straight, embroider.
  • Wind bobbins with the same color threads as used on top and change bobbins with top thread for a more attractive project.

HOW FREE FRAMES COMPARE TO OTHER EMBROIDERY HOOP BRANDS

COMPARING MAGNA HOOPS AND SNAP FRAMES TO THE FREE FRAMES (FORMALLY HOOP-IT-ALL HOOPS)

1) They use magnets.
FREE FRAMES contain (0) Magnets. If your machine has a drop in bobbin it is held down using a light magnet. If you place a larger magnet on top of the bed of the machine, you can cause your bobbin case to slightly float above the shelf it rests on. If this happens you will experience increased thread problems, such as: Skipped Stitches, Looped Stitches, Pulling down of needle thread and shredding of thread above the needle eye.

2) In order to sew out different sized items using those frames,  you must change to different size frames.
FREE FRAMES allow you to Freely lay your items on top of our non-gumming stabilizer, no need to change frame size just because your garments are different sizes.

3) In order to sew out larger designs, you must change to a larger frame size because the opening is smaller.
FREE FRAMES allow you to select from all of your design sizes without having to change hoop/frames because we engineer our frames to trick your sewing machine into thinking it is using specific frames.

WHY IS THIS SO GOOD?
Because you don't have to remove the fabric from the hoop in order to sew out multiple designs and you can combine all design sizes together in a SINGLE HOOPING! No more trying to line up your fabric repeatedly! You will understand why they are called FREE FRAMES after you begin using them

4) They have many different size frames for you to buy and they are required in order to sew out all of your items and designs.
FREE FRAMES allow you to select one of our Large, Double Long, Quad Long or Quad Square frame options and with that ONE FRAME, you can sew out SMALL-MED-LARGE designs and there is NO item size or type restriction! You can sew on anything you want - place it anywhere inside the multi-field frames and as many items as you like ALL AT THE SAME TIME

WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?

Because it doesn't matter where you lay your fabric inside our frames (because the bracket and sliding rails allow us to stop in any location along the rails) which means you can place many items inside the frame all at the same time and then slide to each item

HOW?

IF you want to sew out HAND TOWELS and you have 12 to complete, if the design size is only 3" x 4" in size, that is the only area of those towels that needs to be laid down on our stabilizer. Since the openings inside our FREE FRAMES is much larger than ANY other frame from ANY other company, you can place up to 40 towels inside the frame at the same time!

You start with the first towel, then slide to the next - flipping over the towel you just completed and move down the rail sliding to each towel until you've completed them.

5) Their frames do not come with any table to support the frames.

FREE FRAMES come with a support table to support the frames.

WHY DON'T THE SNAP FRAMES OR MAGNA FRAMES? Because they don't have frames that are even close to the HUGE SIZES we OFFER and they use the machine to support the small frames they offer you.
